📸 I presented my “Photovoice” project at the 11th International Conference on Education (CRIFPE)!
And it addresses a major issue.
➡️ How can we help teachers better understand and support their students facing difficulties in science courses?
Thanks to the Photovoice concept, which relies on two complementary actions:
1️⃣ Taking a photo (depicting everyday obstacles, resilience strategies, and moments of success).
2️⃣ Opening the debate by increasing awareness and empathy towards students with diverse needs.
A photo taken by a student as part of the Photovoice project illustrates her difference using a montage with glasses of different colors.
Teachers and school administrators participating in the conference particularly appreciated how the project bridges disciplines. It integrates elements of psychology, education, and visual arts.
🎯 All with the goal of providing a holistic view of students’ challenges and needs.
Several teachers expressed their desire to incorporate similar techniques into their classes. Some also proposed developing collaborations to enhance teaching and learning in other areas.
This enthusiasm reminded me of how powerful images can be in stimulating reflection and generating concrete actions.
👉 I am convinced that visualization and storytelling can be transformative tools in education.
🙏 A big thank you to Lyne Martel, my colleague from the AFE department, without whom I could not have presented my project at her symposium.
I’m really excited to see “Photovoice” help as many students as possible!
